DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. will personally distribute a much-needed P50 million financial assistance to over 5,000 farmers, fisherfolk, and livestock raisers in Pangasinan on Friday, November 22.
The aid, part of the Presidential Assistance for Farmers, Fisherfolk, and Families (PAFFF) program, aims to help residents recover from the devastating impact of Typhoon Kristine and other recent typhoons, which caused P982 million worth of damage to the province’s agriculture sector.
The distribution ceremony will take place at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center in Lingayen town.
Each of the 5,000 beneficiaries from all six districts of the province will receive P10,000 to help them rebuild their livelihoods.
Dalisay Moya, head of the Provincial Agriculturist’s Office, explained that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has pre-assessed the beneficiaries to ensure that the aid reaches those most in need.
President Marcos’ commitment to the PAFFF program underscores the administration’s dedication to food security and rural development, especially in the face of increasing climate-related challenges.
By prioritizing aid for those affected by climate-related disasters, the government aims to bolster the resilience of agricultural communities.
This year, President Marcos has already led the distribution of significant financial aid to farmers and fisherfolk affected by natural calamities.
In July, he distributed P186.7 million to 18,674 individuals from the Ilocos Region who suffered from the El Niño phenomenon. (AMB/EMSA/PIA Pangasinan)
