CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Tuesday, April 22, urged Filipinos to help preserve government infrastructure and public facilities, emphasizing that the success of these projects depends on public cooperation.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Port Operations Building under the P430.3-million Balingoan Port Expansion Project in Balingoan, Misamis Oriental, the President said maintaining public facilities is essential alongside expanding capacity to serve the people better.

“Mahalaga rin po na mapanatili ang kaayusan ng mga ito upang masiguro na ligtas, matiwasay at maginhawa ang biyahe ng bawat pasahero,” he said.

(It is also important to maintain order in these facilities to ensure that every passenger’s journey is safe, smooth, and comfortable.)

Marcos stressed that citizens are not only beneficiaries but also active participants in safeguarding public assets.

“Kaya’t pangalagaan natin ito dahil ang mga gusali, pasilidad at imprastraktura ay magtatagal lamang kung may malasakit ang mga gumagamit nito,” he added.

(So let us take care of these because buildings, facilities, and infrastructure will only last if the people who use them show concern.)

The President also launched two agri-industrial projects in Balingasag, Misamis Oriental. The Rice Processing System II project includes a multi-stage rice mill and four recirculating dryers to reduce postharvest losses and boost productivity. The Integrated Coconut Processing Facility supports local economic activity through the production of coconut-based products.

He further turned over agricultural machinery, equipment, and inputs worth P32.2 million.

Marcos also led the rollout of 91 patient transport vehicles to local government units in Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, and Lanao del Sur.

Acknowledging that much remains to be done to fulfill the promise of a better future for every Filipino, Marcos assured that the government is doing its part.

“Hindi naman tayo titigil. Unti-unti, tuloy-tuloy, makakarating tayo doon (we will not stop. Step by step, continuously, we will get there),” he said. (APB/PIA-10)
