QUEZON CITY --Department of Health (DOH) – CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo today assures residents in various evacuation centers in Batangas of their health and safety against Covid-19 as more supplies of vaccine and antigen test kits were distributed to identify and prevent the spread of the virus.

“Provincial health teams (PHTLs) including human resource for health (HRH) are deployed in evacuation centers and closely monitoring the health of the residents to prevent further cases of Covid-19 infection,” Janairo stated.

On July 14, 2021, the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) recorded five Covid-19 infections in different evacuation centers – 1 in the town of Agoncillo; 2 – in Balayan; and 2- Laurel.

Janairo added that all infected individuals have been isolated and already undergoing treatment.

“The regional health emergency management team today is also conducting routine inspections in evacuation centers to further assure the well-being of residents staying at the temporary shelters. Local government units are also providing health consultations services including health education on hygiene, sanitation and prevention of Covid-19 transmission.”

DOH has provided face shields, N95 masks, gloves, surgical masks and coverall, WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) commodities including disinfectants, collapsible water drinking containers, troclosine sodium, colilert test kits (for detecting E. coli in drinking water), assorted drug medicines, medical supplies, water containers. MUAC tapes (used in measuring the upper arm circumference of children and pregnant women to malnutrition) and breastfeeding in emergencies posters.
