LTO-7: Motorcycle owners can now 'walk-in' to claim their plates

The Land Transportation Office (LTO-7) has announced that all motorcycle owners whose plates are yet to be claimed can now walk-in at their Temporary Offsite Plate Distribution Office at Seaview Wing of SM Seaside City Cebu starting July 7.

LTO 7 New Registration Unit (NRU) Acting Chief Claro Lumagas said there are a total of 140,091 motorcycle plates in 2018 that are left unclaimed.

The official clarified that for July 7 until July 11, they are giving priority to January 2018 motorcycle registrations.

Motorcycle owners whose registrations were registered in January 2018 can claim from 10:30 AM until 6:30 PM at the said offsite plate distribution office.

Owners must bring a photocopy of the official receipt and certificate of registration (OR/CR) of their motorcycle together with their government-issued ID and a photocopy of the ID.

Likewise, if a representative will claim on behalf of the owner, a duly notarized authorization from the owner must be presented including a photocopy of both the owner and the representative's ID.

Lumagas said they can accommodate around 100-200 clients per day both walk-ins and via appointment.

He added that a Public Assistance Complaints Desk (PACD), verifier, and personnel who will retrieve the plates are now in place on the said offsite plate distribution office.

Motorcycle plates of January 2018 with suffixes JAA - GAN are now available and ready for distribution.

As of July 6, there were only 1,887 motorcycle plates that were released by the region to the owners and the dealers.

LTO-7 Regional Director Victor Emmanuel Caindec thru Cebu City District Office Chief Joel Maloloy-on reminded the public that LTO enforcers are now implementing a stricter policy in flagging down motorcycles with no plates.

Maloloy-on added that they will be announcing an additional schedule through their official Facebook page on the schedule for the months of February until December 2018.

He added that verification of motorcycle plates is still available where owners can text the details of their motorcycle registration such as plate number, MV file number, registration date, and name of the owner to 0947-349-9965.

He also clarified that motorcycle owners outside Cebu can send their representatives like their relatives to claim their plates as long as the needed requirements are present.

SM Seaside Regional Operations Manager Anton del Prado also said that their mall is supportive of the agency's initiative in delivering services to the public.

Del Prado added that the LTO-7 can stay in the mall as long as they want, stating that both the agency and the mall have a strong partnership after opening the Cebu City Mega Licensing Center, one of the largest licensing centers in the region. (PR)
