DOLE calls for entries in the 2021 Media Awards

ILOILO CITY (PIA) - - The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office No.6 is inviting all practitioners in the mainstream print, social, and broadcast media (radio and TV) to join in the 2021 DOLE Media Awards.

The Awards, which will be one of the highlights of DOLE 88th Anniversary Celebration on December 8, aims to recognize outstanding published stories of the Department’s programs and services that has touched the lives of the jobseekers, workers and employers and the achievement of DOLE in the performance of its mandate as the country moves towards recovery.

The Awards has two categories, namely the News Feature Story or article published in print and social media, and News Feature Story or Program aired on TV or radio between December 2020 and October 2021.

The materials must portray DOLE’s efforts and achievements in addressing labor and employment issues and concerns on child labor, informal workers, overseas Filipino workers, hazardous working conditions, entrepreneurship and employment opportunities, worker’s welfare, among others. 

The stories must also depict the Department’s high impact programs anchored on the four pillars of Decent Work Agenda, namely Respect for Fundamental Rights at Work, Facilitation of Employment Opportunities for All, Social Protection, and Social Dialogue. 

Among the issues related to the subject are improved working conditions, work-related benefits and rights, advanced opportunities for gainful, decent, safe employment, maintained industrial peace, etc.

“This is a way to recognize our partnership with the media industry that has helped us in the delivery of our programs and services,” said OIC-Regional Director Atty. Sixto T. Rodriguez, Jr.  

He added that the Regional Office appreciates the valuable contributions of the local media especially in disseminating vital information on the assistance provided to the workers in the region at the height of the pandemic.

The entries will be judged on its content and relevance; impact of the news feature story to Filipino workers and family, employers, partners, stakeholders or program beneficiaries; depth and breadth of reporting; clarity, completeness and balance.

Cash prizes and trophies per pillar await the winners.  First, second and third place winners will receive P30,000, P20,000 and P10,000, respectively.

Winning entries will also be featured in the DOLE official website ( and the official Facebook account.

Entries in soft file copy must be submitted online at  before of November 3, 2021 for screening and nominations.
