Oriental Mindoro farmers receive P1.8-M farm machinery, equipment from DAR

Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro –The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has provided P1.8 million worth of farm machinery and equipment to three (3) agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (ARBOs) in barangays Malubay, Malaya, and Happy Valley, Oriental Mindoro to help improve the agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) agri-business enterprise, farm yields, and living conditions.

DAR Acting Secretary Bernie F. Cruz led the distribution of one (1) unit mini-cargo truck and 1 unit weighing scale with 1,000 kg capacity worth P600,000; 1 unit 4WD Kubota L40 farm tractor with rotavator worth P1,117,000.00; and 1 unit amphi tiller with engine worth P44,950.

"We are glad that these support services provided by the DAR would help promote the business of the cooperative and help uplift the lives of the ARBs,” Cruz said.

The ARBOs who received the machinery and equipment are the: Malubay Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Association (MARBA); Malaya Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Association (MALARBFASSI); and Samahang Kapit Bisig ng Happy Valley (SKBHV).

“The farm machinery and equipment will service more than 300 farmers here. These would greatly make their farming activities easier and faster and help improve their yields and increase their income,” DAR Mimaropa Regional Director Marvin Bernal said.

Bernal explained that the department was able to implement these projects under the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support Project (CRFPSP) and Linking Smallholder Farmers to Market with Microfinance (LinkSFarMM) which aims to improve farm productivity and increase the net income of the ARBs in a sustainable manner through their organizations.

DAR Mimaropa Regional Director Marvin Bernal turns over the symbolic key to the leaders of the three agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (ARBOs) for the farm machinery and equipment provided by the DAR.

MALARBFASSI President Gilbert Faildo thanked the DAR for the farm tractor stating that: “This is a big help to our association, not only to the members but also to the people of barangay Malaya. We will take care of this machinery so that more members can benefit from the said tractor.”

The turned-over ceremony was part of the Joint National Task Force-Regional Task Force (NTF-RTF) to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) conducted recently in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro. (DAR)
