IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay - The soldiers under 102nd Infantry (IGSOON) Brigade returned abandoned slain Communist NPA Terrorist to their families. The recent encounter in Barangay Midatag, Leon B Postigo, Zamboanga del Norte between government forces and the Communist Terrorist Group resulted to the killing of two (2) of its prominent leaders and battle-tested red fighters.
The troops discovered the abandoned cadavers of Loreto Dagpin alias Elyong, former Commanding Officer of the defunct Main Regional Guerilla Unit, and Rolando Maglasang alias Mobin, former Commanding Officer of the defunct Guerilla Front-BBC, together with four (4) high-powered firearms after the 30-minute firefight last May 12, 2022. Brig. Gen. Leonel Nicolas, Commander, 102nd Infantry (IGSOON) Brigade condemned the blatant disrespect of the CTGs for basic human rights.
"This is the treacherous tactics of the leadership of these CTGs, they abandon their fallen comrades just to save themselves from the might and power of our government forces," said Brig. Gen. Nicolas.
The troops navigated the rolling and thickly vegetated terrain despite the heavy rains that poured during the night just to transport the cadavers to the nearest village.
"We have always taught and instilled to our men that we mas value and respect the very basic human rights not only of our brothers in arms and the civilians, as well as those of our enemies," Brig. Gen. Nicolas added.
The Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict of Leon B Postigo provided assistance to decently prepare the cadavers before turning over to the nearest kins.
"The LGU-Leon B Postigo will always extend support to our government forces and most especially to the victims of exploitation and deception from these communist terrorists," said Hon. Daroz Hambali, Municipal Mayor and Chairman, MTF-ELCAC.
The nearest kins of Dagpin and Maglasang already claimed their bodies as of posting.
