Bangsamoro children’s welfare remains top priority—CM Ebrahim

MARAWI CITY—Bangsamoro Chief Minister. Ahod Ebrahim on Sunday, Nov. 12, underscored the unwavering dedication of the Government of the Day to safeguarding the welfare, rights, and health of Bangsamoro children.

This commitment was emphasized during the celebration of the 31st National Children's Month (NCM) in the entire Philippines, pursuant to the Republic Act No. 10661 declaring November of every year as National Children's Month.

CM Ebrahim stressed the collective responsibility of the interim government to help Bangsamoro children attain their goals.

“The Bangsamoro Government remains committed to fostering an enabling environment and empowering children where they feel valued, safe, and equipped to pursue their passions,” he stated.

On Nov. 6, the Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) kicked off in Cotabato City the celebration of NCM 2023, carrying the theme ‘Isulong Kalinga, Kalusugan at Karapatan ng Batang Bangsamoro’, marking the month-long occasion across the region.

Ebrahim also shared the concerted efforts of the BARMM Government in unlocking Bangsamoro children’s potential through its social protection interventions.

“One of these initiatives is the Kupkop Program of the MSSD, which has provided 8,134 orphaned children in Bangsamoro with necessary financial resources,” the Chief Minister emphasized.

“By protecting these rights and overall well-being, we pave the road for a brighter future, not only for our children but for the entire Bangsamoro homeland," he added.

MSSD’s Kupkop Program provides orphaned children with the necessary financial resources, giving them access to a healthy lifestyle, balanced nutrition, education, and secure, nurturing alternative care.

Ebrahim then urged the Bangsamoro people to make a difference by influencing the children’s future and advocating for the latter’s overall well-being.

This annual event is dedicated to ensuring the commitment to providing a healthy environment, delivering quality education, and making healthcare accessible to Filipino children.

Likewise, the 12th Juvenile Justice Welfare Consciousness Week, which mainstreams awareness and consciousness of the Filipino on the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act, will be celebrated on November 21–27, with the theme ‘Nourishing Dreams, Shaping Futures: Ensuring the Right to Health and Well-being of All Children’, under Proclamation No. 489, series of 2012.
