PRO-10 intensifies efforts to combat CTG recruitment of students

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — The Police Regional Office (PRO)-10 addressed concerns regarding the recruitment of students by communist terrorist groups (CTGs), emphasizing ongoing efforts to collaborate with school authorities to prevent such activities.

“Our Police Community Relations Office is joining flag-raising ceremonies at schools to educate students, particularly those in senior high school and freshman college, about the dangers of joining armed groups,” said PRO-10 Chief of Regional Staff PCol. Martin Gamba during the eleventh episode of Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas on August 6.

Naa’y mga daghang paagi sa pagpaabot sa atoang mga yangungo.  We reach out sa media kung dili siya ma-aksyonan sa mga agency nga in-charge anang giatubang na mga problema. Daghan makita nga problema sa atong society, but armed struggle is not the right solution for those problems,” he reminded students.

(There are many ways to address our concerns. We reach out to the media if the agencies responsible for handling these issues do not take action. There are many problems in our society, but armed struggle is not the right solution to these problems.)

Gamba also called on media partners to assist in spreading this crucial message, to inform young adults and senior high school students that joining an armed struggle is not a viable solution to societal problems.

As part of its dedication to fighting insurgencies and safeguarding communities in the region, PRO-10 continues to strengthen its anti-insurgency operations. This resulted in the surrender of 193 CTG members, the arrest of 89 individuals, and the confiscation of 85 firearms. (APB/PIA-10)
