ILOILO CITY (PIA6) – The Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 has reiterated its full commitment in preserving and fighting for the freedom of the Philippines by ensuring the peace and order situation in Western Visayas.
During the 126th celebration of the Philippine Independence Day, PRO-6 Deputy Director for Administration Brig. Gen. Archival D. Macala stressed the importance of the event to show to the people their commitment for independence.
He noted that there are “numerous local and foreign forces that threaten the country’s integrity as a sovereign and independent nation.”
“We assure you that the PRO-6 will always be aggressive in fighting criminality, terrorism, and other abuses, which are all considered hindrances towards the country’s progress,” Malcala said in his keynote speech during the celebration in Plaza Libertad on June 12.
“The heroism that our forefathers did in the past is alive within our hearts. The PNP [Philippine National Police] and the PRO-6 are here to ensure your safety and peace and order in the community,” he added.
Malcala also urged Ilonggos to do their share, noting that it is a collective duty of Filipinos to safeguard, protect and defend the country.
“Our people have fought for our independence before, and I am sure, we, through our shared commitment for the love of our motherland, can continue to defend it as only by ensuring the independence of our nation, can we exercise our own personal freedom to the fullest,” he stressed.
The official also shared that an additional four police stations would open in Iloilo City to ensure the safety of the public, citing the growing population in the metro.
PNP chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil is expected to attend the formal activation of the additional stations. The Iloilo City Police Station currently has six police stations: Iloilo City Police Station (ICPS) 1 at Gen. Luna St., City Proper district; ICPS 2 at La Paz district; ICPS 3 at Jaro; ICPS 4 at Molo; ICPS 5 at Mandurriao; and ICPS 6 at Arevalo district. (AAL/JNH/PIA Iloilo)
