ILOILO CITY (PIA) — The Police Regional Office 6 said the situation in Western Visayas was peaceful during the 3rd State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. on Monday, July 22.
PRO 6 director Brigadier General Jack L Wanky thanked the public for their cooperation and vigilance as no SONA related incident was recorded during the President’s SONA.
“We would like to thank everyone for this zero-incident during the president’s third SONA. This was made possible because of everyone’s cooperation and vigilance,” said Wanky.
In a press report, PRO 6 said though there were groups that conducted assemblies in some areas in the region like the cities of Bacolod, Iloilo, and Roxas and in Aklan, these were conducted in a peaceful manner.
Days prior to the SONA, the PRO-6 maximized its personnel deployment through foot and mobile patrols and conducted random checkpoints in identified strategic areas. Also, the commanders ensured close supervision of their deployments.
“Whether there is SONA or not, rest assured that your police are always there on the streets performing visibility patrols and law enforcement operations against lawless elements,” said Wanky. (AAL/LAF/PIA6-Iloilo/PRO6)
