ZAMBOANGA CITY (PIA) – The Police Regional Office (PRO)-9 has begun preparations for the 2025 Midterm Elections following the issuance of COMELEC Resolution No. 10999 by the Commission on Elections, which sets the next election period.
Regional Director Police Brigadier General Bowenn Joey M Masauding convened a command conference at Camp Colonel Romeo A Abendan in Zamboanga Peninsula, gathering key officers of PRO-9, police office commanders, and regional chiefs of national support units.
The primary agenda of the meeting is focused on security preparations for the 2025 Midterm Elections. Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to uphold the sanctity of the election process, the officers and personnel of PRO-9 addressed potential issues and concerns anticipated during the upcoming elections. These included the accounting of loose firearms, dismantling of drug syndicates, and arrest of armed group members.
The regional director also instructed unit commanders to maximize the deployment of uniformed personnel, emphasizing, “Make the people know and feel they are safe sa bahay man, sa trabaho, o sa kalsada. How we manage peace and order in Zamboanga Peninsula today will make a world of difference in the outcome of the upcoming elections.”

Throughout the conference, the regional staff and chiefs of national support units provided a comprehensive overview of the peace and order situation in the region.
Provincial Directors of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay, alongside the City Director of Zamboanga City Police Office and the Chief of Isabela City Police Station, shared detailed insights regarding their respective security preparations. This included a review of past election-related incidents, identification of areas of concern, strategies to strengthen their response against lawlessness, and future projections.
PBGen Masauding underscored the importance of collaborating with local government units, other law enforcement agencies, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and Task Force Zamboanga. He emphasized that PRO-9 operates most effectively when closely aligned with other stakeholders.
He called for unity and collaboration among all police units, stressing the need for alignment and coordination among regional, local, and national support units in Zamboanga Peninsula.
“Dito sa PRO-9, kailangan po natin ang pagkakaisa. Let us move in cadence towards a single direction. Sabaysabay po nating tahakin and daan tungo sa Bagong Pilipinas,” said the Regional Director, fostering a sense of collective responsibility and unity among the units.
