PRO-CAR assures to maintain peace and order; ‘home of most discipled cops’

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet (PIA) — The Cordillera region is generally peaceful and the Police Regional Office-Cordillera (PRO-CAR) assured to maintain the peace and order situation to foster economic growth, and social order.

Peredo with the Deputy Regional Director for Administration PBGen. Rogelio Raymundo Jr, and Chief Regional Staff PCol. Julio Lizardo led the Command group in reporting PRO-CAR’s operational and administrative accomplishments under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s “Bagong Pilipnas” brand of administration in the kapihan forum.

PRO-CAR presented their operational accomplishments for two years particularly against illegal drugs, illegal logging, illegal gambling and communist-terrorist groups, loose firearms, and on arrest of wanted persons.

Under the campaign against illegal drugs, there were 1,402 operations conducted resulting to the arrest of 786 individuals and confiscation of marijuana and shabu with estimated standard drug price of P6,463,399,869.60.

On loose firearms, PRO-CAR units conducted 2,542 operations with 2,457 firearms confiscated/recovered or surrendered, 160 persons arrested, and 147 cases filed. The police, in cooperation with local government units, the communities, and other agencies, arrested 18 CTG members during the period while 139 CTGs and NPAs in the Barrios surrendered.

On crime situation, PRO-CAR reported a total of 8,266 crime incidents from June 30, 2022 to July 31, 2024, of which 47 percent or 3,893 incidents were classified as peace and order indicators. Fifty -three percent or 4,373 incidents were classified as public safety indicators, which include culpable felonies and quasi-offenses.

From June 30, 2023 to June 30, 2024, the total crime incidents decrease by 691 incidents or 15.94 percent, the peace and order indicators went down by 107 incidents or 4.82% while the public safety indicator decreased by 408 or 20.14%.

These accomplishments were made possible with the support of the community.

On administrative accomplishments, PRO-CAR highlighted the issuing of 193,212 awards to its personnel for meritorious achievements or performance, acts of gallantry and skills proficiency.

In terms of administrative offenses, there were only 151 cases for the two-year period mostly involving grave misconduct and neglect of duty. As to case disposition, the 87 were penalized through suspension, reprimand and dismissal, 55 were exonerated while seven cases were dismissed.

The number of cases is relatively low for a workplace with more than 5,000 personnel. National Police Commission-CAR Director Editha Puddoc affirmed the minimal number of cases filed against the men and women of PRO-CAR now and in the past years earning the tag, “Home of the Most Disciplined Cops.”

She commended the Cordillera police personnel for their dedication and commitment. She shared NAPOLCOM’s support for police officers through scholarship program, in line with the Commission’s goal to enhance the capabilities and professionalism of law enforcement personnel.

The PRO-CAR police officials stressed the support of the community and the strong collaboration among their various units in effectively fulfilling their responsibility to enforce laws, and to prevent and control crimes. They are also focused in continuously instilling discipline among Cordillera officers and ensuring their well-being for PRO-CAR to maintain its reputation as the “Home of the Most Disciplined Cops.” (RMC-PIA CAR)
