ILOILO CITY (PIA) – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO 6) reported an increased number of arrested persons and confiscated illegal drugs from January 1 to June 30, 2024 compared to the same period last year with seizure reaching to around P266.213-million.
PRO-6 Regional Operations Division Chief Police Colonel Gilbert T. Gorero, during the 2nd quarter meeting of the Regional Law Enforcement Coordination Committee (RLECC) last July 11 at Camp Gen. Martin Teofilo Delgado, Iloilo City, said that the intensified operations against high value and street level individuals had resulted in the significant increase in accomplishments of PRO 6 against illegal drugs.
In its campaign against illegal drugs during the first 6 months of 2024, PRO 6 arrested a total of 1,590 individuals involved in illegal drugs and confiscated a total of 38,787.632 grams of shabu and 20,261 grams of marijuana.
Compared to the first six-months in 2023, the PRO 6 only netted a total of 1,450 individuals involved in illegal drugs and a total of 16,724.816 grams of shabu as well as 2,222.98 grams of marijuana with a total value of P114,009,919.76.
PRO 6 record also shows that a total of 1,230 police operations were conducted against illegal drugs in Western Visayas in the first 6 months of 2024 that comprises a total of 1,005 buy bust operations, 160 through search warrant or warrant of arrest and 65 others through check points and police dispatches.
Gorero added that the intensified operations during the semester had also resulted in the arrest of 291 high value individuals, 1,202 street level individuals and 97 newly identified individuals.
PRO 6 Director Police Brigadier Jack L. Wanky said that these accomplishments were achieved because of the inter-agency collaboration, coordination and the team work of the different law enforcement agencies. (AAL/EJB/PIA 6)
