MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA)–The provincial government here is eyeing a more productive and effective collaboration with the Police Regional Office (PRO)-10, particularly in keeping areas secure and safe from any threats.
This development came after the newly installed PRO-10 Director, PBGen. Ricardo Layug Jr., paid a courtesy visit to Misamis Occidental Governor Henry Oaminal on October 14, 2023, held at the AYA Hotel and Residences Clarin town.
Layug’s visit to Oaminal is primarily aimed at boosting cooperation between the provincial government and local police force in maintaining and stabilizing peace and order in the province.
During their meeting, the officials shared and tackled important matters that would sustain the province’s public order. Among the discussed topics were the preparations for the approaching barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) on October 30. Layug assured that the PNP has deployed police personnel to key areas to maintain an orderly, clean, and safe political exercise.
He said the PNP has intensified the conduct of information dissemination and other police operations to ensure a peaceful BSKE 2023 in different cities and municipalities within the province.
“I am grateful for the cooperation of the Province of Misamis Occidental. Hopefully, we can sustain this kind of partnership to further improve, attain long-lasting peace and order, and achieve what they called development,” he said.
Meanwhile, Oaminal vowed full support to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the PNP to ensure the democratic process will be conducted smoothly and without disruption.
On top of providing full support for security forces, Oaminal likewise committed to effective implementation of the Committee on Kontra Bigay—combating the deplorable practice of vote-buying.
The governor calls for a collective effort to eradicate vote-buying influence during the democratic process. He also urged for a safe environment for voters to choose their candidates without fear or intimidation. (PGMO/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
