CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-10 urges all households in northern Mindanao to join the 2024 Census of Population (POPCEN) and Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS). The data gathering will be from July 15 to September 16.
PSA-10 Supervising Statistical Specialist Brenda Lynn Castro said participation in POPCEN is mandatory as per RA 10625. Refusal to participate carries a penalty of one year imprisonment and a P100,000 fine. On the other hand, participation in the CBMS is voluntary per RA 11315).
Castro emphasized the vital role of data in the government’s efficient resource allocation and effective public service delivery across the region.
(I want to inform everyone in the region that the ‘DSWD Listahanan’ will be replaced by the CBMS. While participation is voluntary, failure to participate will result in our exclusion from the list. For instance, if the government implements programs for students and we are not listed in CBMS, it means we did not participate and will not be included in the profile.)
Castro said answering these surveys is free. She also assures the public that before conducting the said activity, the barangay officials will review their Standard Operation Procedure to inform the residents in that area.
To avoid scams, PSA-10 reminds residents to request the enumerator’s PSA identification card (ID) for verification. Residents can also visit any PSA Facebook page for further information or to raise any concerns. (ADJ/PIA-10)
