During the 9th episode of the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas program on July 23, PSA-7 regional director Engr. Ariel Florendo said they tapped a total of 6,778 enumerators for the census in the region.

“For the 2024 POPCEN and CBMS, we were able to hire 6,778 enumerators. Sila na ang mobisita ngadto sa matag panimalay aron mokuha sa mga gikinahanglan impormasyon nga gipaangayo alang sa pagpahigayon sa atong POPCEN and CBMS,” said Florendo.

(They will visit every household to get the necessary information related to the conduct of 2024 POPCEN-CBMS.)

Of the total number of hired enumerators, 4,351 are deployed in Cebu, 1,216 in Negros Oriental, 1,130 in Bohol, and 81 in Siquijor.

The POPCEN-CBMS survey’s target submission of official census results and CBMS data to the President and to the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) is in December 2024.

The expected turnover of data results to local government units is set in the first quarter of 2025.

The 2024 POPCEN-CBMS is a nationwide statistical activity that aims to update the inventory of the total population in all local government units (LGUs) in the country, the list of beneficiaries of government social protection programs, and assist LGUs in formulating evidence-based projects and programs.

Call for public support

The PSA-7 is calling on the public to support and participate in the census by welcoming enumerators and statistical researchers in every household.

The agency also reminded respondents to be cautious and mindful of fake enumerators visiting their households.

“We are urging our respondents to provide complete, accurate, and truthful information during the POPCEN-CBMS interview. For the respondents, make sure to ask for the enumerator’s ID or check the form to ascertain if the enumerator visiting your household is really a legit PSA enumerator,” said Florendo.

PSA-7 also advised respondents not to provide personal and private information such as bank account details and bank PINS, as the POPCEN and CBMS questionnaires, which consist of 124 data items, do not require this kind of personal information from the respondents.

POPCEN-CBMS preparations

PSA-7 has also conducted a series of conveying and coordination activities with the LGUs in the region for the POPCEN-CBMS and held trainings for the enumerators/

“PSA-7 is convening with the LGUs to understand and determine what commitment they can provide in helping us with the conduct of POPCEN-CBMS. We have conducted various coordination meetings and coordinated with the census coordination boards of the provinces, cities, and municipalities in the region. We also conducted seminars and training for our enumerators to be deployed to ensure the smooth and effective delivery of services to the respondents, ” said Florendo.

The total budget allocated for the national operations of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS is P5.7 billion, which covers data collection, processing, mapping, coordination, and advocacy activities. (RGC/PIA7 Cebu)
