PSA Antique brings National ID services to Maniguin Island

SAN JOSE, Antique (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority finally completed the PhilSys registration of 590 barangays in Antique after the visit of the team to Maniguin.

Chief Statistical Specialist Randy M. Tacogdoy lauded the commitment of the PhilSys team who went to the island despite the challenges in the means of transportation just to reach the island barangay.

Brgy. Maniguin is one of the island barangays in the town of Culasi and the travel from the mainland involves boat rides that can vary in duration based on sea conditions, making it difficult for residents to access opportunities and support.

“With Maniguin Island being the final barangay visited, this milestone underscored the team’s dedication to ensuring that every Filipino has the opportunity to secure their national ID,” Tacogdoy said.

PSA registered 102 individuals for the National ID system, 47 ePhilIDs were issued on the day of registration, and eight digital National IDs were successfully generated.

PSA noted this significant undertaking for the local community so they could avail of government services.

The barangay has an estimated 182 households and 890 population.

Tacogdoy cited the hard work and commitment of the team to ensure that important services reached this remote area.

“The successful registration underscores the commitment of PSA to providing national IDs and improving the lives of Filipinos,” he said.  (AGP/PSA/PIA-Antique)
