MAMBAJAO, Camiguin (PIA) — To introduce the integration of the Census of Population and the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) to enhance data accuracy, optimize resources, and minimize respondent fatigue, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Camiguin convened for the second time in the Mambajao at the Mayor’s Office, Poblacion, Mambajao, on August 19.
The convening, chaired by the Municipal Mayor Yñigo Jesus Romualdo, was attended by 28 participants from local board members. Senior Statistical Specialist Franklin Vivares presented an overview of the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS, including its purpose, scope, and methodology.
“This is also to inform them of the updates on the data collection progress as of August 17, 2024, wherein some of the enumeration areas had already been successfully completed,” Vivares said.
The integrated 2024 POPCEN-CBMS aims to update the population count and list of beneficiaries of government social protection programs geared towards poverty alleviation and economic development.
Vivares added that the data obtained from these undertakings will assist the Camiguin provincial government in local planning, program implementation, budgeting, disaster risk reduction, and management measures. (PSA Camiguin/PIA-10/Camiguin)
