CAMIGUIN (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority-Camiguin conducted the five-day provincial-level training of the 2024 Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring System (POPCEN-CBMS) Map and Data Processing at the PSA Office training room, Poblacion, Mambajao, Camiguin, from September 2-6.
The training was divided into two days of map processing and three days of data processing, aimed at equipping the hired personnel with the necessary skills in data checking, validating, and processing.
“It is important to reflect the real situation of the household throughout the processing operation in order to maintain the integrity of the data collected without unnecessary alterations. We ensure that the final processed data accurately represents the real situation of each household,” said Chief Statistical Specialist Francisco C. Galagar, Jr.

During the training, QGIS was introduced to the map processor. The main purpose of this system is to check the accuracy and completeness of the map data. While the data processing system was presented to both the map and the data processor.
This system was developed to ensure that the accuracy and quality of the data collected on the Household Profile Questionnaire (Form 2) and Institutional Living Quarters (Form 11) will be checked, corrected, and justified.
The training was designed to strengthen the processing of data and produce high-quality statistical information that will serve as a vital resource for policymakers, researchers, and the public.
The 2024 POPCEN-CBMS aims to update the population count and list of beneficiaries of government social protection programs geared toward poverty alleviation and economic development. (PSA Camiguin/PIA-10/Camiguin)
