CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA)- – Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Region 2 has called on all citizens of Cagayan Valley Region to support the ongoing 2024 Census of Population (POPCEN) and Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS).
Regional Director Girme Bayucan said they want the 2024 result of the CBMS to be an updated one and it should reflect the true economic conditions of every community.
He also said the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS aims to give updates on the population and give the Office of the President and the Office of the Social Welfare Secretary the list of families who will be beneficiaries of government programs.
“We want complete information on the economic condition of a particular household and we can’t do this accurately without the cooperation of all sectors from the barangay to the national government and more importantly, the citizens,” Bayucan stressed.
He said the government targets eight million households (40 million individuals of 30 percent of the total population) for government assistance and social services, one million for food stamps, four million for Listahanan, and 2.8 million for other government interventions.
“The results will also help our provincial government down to the municipal local governments to identify interventions, assistance needed, and other concerns. That’s why I urged all our province mates to help us at the PSA to gather accurate information, the information we will get is not for us to keep, it will be given to the local government units for them to utilize in their programs,” Bayucan said.
Bayucan added that the information gathered will go back to the citizens, households, and the community in the form of government projects.
“In Quirino, we have more than 100 enumerators, including the team supervisors and census area supervisors. I want to inform everyone that our enumerators are legitimate, they have IDs and uniforms provided by the PSA and the LGUs,” Bayucan added.
Bayucan thanked the provincial government and the six municipalities for their support of the POPCEN and CBMS and all the programs of the PSA.
“At the end of the day, the only goal we want is to help the people, to help every resident of Quirino province benefit from the different programs of the government, ” Bayucan said. (OTB/TCB/PIA Quirino)
