PSA conducts 1st Quarter 2023 BLP and CLP surveys in OrMin

CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Oriental Mindoro Provincial Office recently conducted its 1st Quarter 2023 round of the Backyard Livestock and Poultry Survey (BLPS) and Commercial Livestock and Poultry Survey (CLPS) in the province of Oriental Mindoro.

Oriental Mindoro PSA Chief Statistical Specialist Efren C. Armonia said these surveys are in accordance with Republic Act No. 10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, which authorizes the PSA to prepare and conduct periodic censuses on various sectors of the economy and Executive Order No. 352 mandating the conduct of the survey every quarter.

Armonia said BLPS is one of the major agricultural surveys conducted by their agency. The result of the survey will generate estimates on inventory, supply and disposition, and other related data of the livestock and poultry commodities at the household level.

The Commercial Livestock and Poultry Survey (CLPS) is also one of the major agricultural surveys conducted by the PSA that collect information on livestock and poultry current supply and disposition of commercial farms/establishments in the province and will generate estimates on inventory, supply and disposition, and other related data of the livestock and poultry commodities from establishments.

Nine statistical researchers (SRs) were involved in the conduct of the 1st Quarter 2023 data collection of BLPS. The hired SRs underwent a two-day training, and right after, the field data collections were conducted for 10 days, which lasted last April 5, and was eventually followed by manual editing and computerized data processing.

A total of 63 sample households were interviewed in the province here for CLPS from the towns of Baco, Naujan, Victoria, Socorro, Pola, Pinamalayan, Gloria, Bongabong, Roxas, Mansalay, and the City of Calapan, while 300 sample households were interviewed for BLPS in the towns of Naujan, Victroia, Socorro, Pinamalayan, Pola, Gloria, Bansud, Mansalay, Bulalacao, and the City of Calapan.

Armonia said the PSA is committed to delivering relevant and reliable statistics, hence, the agency encourages the public, especially the sample households, to always participate in the various censuses and surveys to be conducted by the PSA in the future.

Likewise, he assured the respondents that all collected personal information would be processed in accordance with the law and other issuances. (LTC/PIA Mimaropa-OrMin)
