The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) of Oriental Mindoro conducted a four-day onsite City Level Training on the 2023 Community – Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Thematic Mapping using CBMS Data at the ABC Hall, DILG Building, Brgy. Guinobatan, Calapan City on November 20-23, 2023.
The training was attended by four PSA Oriental Mindoro personnel, one PSA Mimaropa personnel, and nine other regular personnel from LGU Calapan City.
Specifically, the training aims to capacitate the LGU personnel in generating thematic maps using the generated CBMS data.
Senior Statistical Specialist Herchie T. Davalos, Information System Analyst I John Christopher B. Limbo and Shiela Jane M. Dudas of PSA Oriental Mindoro spearheaded the Thematic Mapping training.
In order to provide better understanding and appreciation of the tools and software presented, the hands-on exercises and presentations were conducted during the training.
Thematic maps provide a powerful visual means to convey specific information related to a theme or topic, making complex data more accessible and understandable to a wide audience.
Provincial Statistics Officer Efren C. Armonia said PSA is committed to deliver relevant and reliable statistics. Hence, the agency encourages the public, especially the sample households and establishments to participate in the various censuses and surveys conducted by the PSA.
Likewise, the agency assures that all collected personal information are processed in accordance with the law and other issuances.
