SAN JOSE, Occidental Mindoro (PIA) – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) MIMAROPA was able to correct 2,175 civil documents through the Decentralized Copy Annotation Process (DeCAP) in the first semester of 2024.
The DeCAP is one of the innovations of the PSA, said Regional Director Leni Rioflorido of PSA MIMAROPA during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas of the Presidential Operations Office and Philippine Information Agency on July 23.
Rioflorido said that through the decentralization of annotations of documents such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, and death certificates that need correction or have missing entries, it unclogs the volume of processed documents by the PSA Civil Registration Services Central Office which is the project’s main objective.
“Nagagawa nito na mas mapabilis na mailagay ang missing entries sa pamamagitan ng supplemental report at annotation para sa correction of entries at change of name ayon sa Republic Act 9048 at 10172,” she added.
(It enables faster data input to blank fields through supplemental reports and annotation for correction of entries and change name by the Republic Act 9048 and 10172.)
She explained that the documents from local civil registry offices will first undergo a thorough evaluation by the PSA Legal Service.
“ ‘Pagkatapos nito, [ang] maa-approve [na] mga petition ay ginagawan ng finality ng local civil registry office upang ang correction ay mailagay sa pamamagitan ng marginal annotation o remarks,” Rioflorido said.
(After this, the approved petitions will be processed by the local civil registry offices to apply the corrections through marginal annotations or remarks.)
Individuals in the MIMAROPA region, who need the said service, may visit the PSA Regional Office at Calapan City, or the nearest PSA Satellite Office or Serbilis Outlets. There are four Serbilis Outlets in the region located at the following areas: Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, Odiongan, Romblon, and Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro.
