PSA intensifies campaign on 1-4 years old PhilSys registration

KALIBO, Aklan (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) continuously conducts its Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) registration for children aged 1 to 4 years old in the province of Aklan.

According to PSA-Aklan Chief Statistical Specialist Engr. Antonet B. Catubuan, as of May 31, 2024, a total of 11,319 children aged 1-4 have registered with PhilSys in the province of Aklan.

“PSA-Aklan continues its effort for PhilSys registration especially to this age bracket as based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (CPH), it represents only 24.79 percent of the 45,661 population in that age group.  There are 75.21 percent that are still unregistered,” Catubuan said.

Aside from the PhilSys Fixed Registration Center (FRC) located in Osmeña Ave, Kalibo, Aklan that accepts walk-in applicants for national ID registration, the agency is likewise holding mobile registrations in various municipalities in Aklan especially in far flung areas to ensure every Aklanon will be registered including children aged one to four.

The mobile registration service, dubbed “PhilSys on Wheels,” is set to provide Aklanons hassle-free National ID registration and ePhilID issuance.

The PSA team will be on-site to assist individuals in completing their registration, ensuring that the process is efficient and convenient.

PSA-Aklan urged parents to register their children aged one to four and take advantage of the opportunities provided by PhilSys, especially their mobile services that eliminate the need for residents to undertake long journeys to complete their PhilSys registration.

A 33-year-old Aklanon mother Elaine T. Majabague who availed the PhilSys on Wheels for her one year and 9 months old child has seen the National ID registration for one to four years old, as a good program of the government.

“Bilang parent, nasadyahan gid ako nga ro akon nga unga nga sang dag-on hay may ID ag bukon eang it birth certificate ro amon nga ginapakita. May ana eon kumbaga nga identity ag napabilang na gid imaw sa sosyodad,” Majabague said.

(As parent, I’m so happy that my one-year-old child has an ID already and not just a birth certificate. It seems that my child has now his identity and is already a member of society.)

The same experience with Majabague, Aina Vias Pastor who also enrolled her one-year and eight-month-old child to national ID, found the process of registration easy with personnel from PSA-Aklan readily assisting and supporting them.

For the registration of children one to four years old, parents are advised to bring their PhilID or ePhilID along with the child’s birth certificate issued by PSA or Local Civil Registrar during registration.

If a guardian would accompany the children aged one to four during registration, an additional requirement of an authorization letter from the child’s parent must be presented.

The demographic information that will be collected during registration includes sex, date of birth, place of birth, blood type, address, nationality, mobile number, and a front-facing photo.

Only when the child reaches the age of five their complete biometric information will be captured such as fingerprints, iris scan, and the updated front-facing photograph.

After registration, children will be issued an ePhilID, and their PhilSys Number (PSN) will be linked to the PSN of the parent or guardian. (AGP/SQP/PIA Aklan)
