ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in the MIMAROPA region has partnered with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to facilitate the registration of the public for the Philippine Identification System.
PSA MIMAROPA Regional Director Leni Rioflorido said that PSA personnel are now present during DSWD’s Family Development Sessions for Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) household grantees and parents. This collaboration allows the PSA to discuss the benefits of the National ID and register individuals on the spot.
The initiative complements the PSA’s mobile registration efforts, which involve bringing equipment to isolated barangays and islands in MIMAROPA to register residents and Indigenous Peoples IPs).
Additionally, Rioflorida said that the PSA is conducting “PhilSys on Wheels” and “House-to-House Registration,” where PSA teams visit senior citizens who cannot travel.

Rioflorido highlighted the significance of the National ID in promoting inclusivity and efficiency for Filipino citizens, citing that it allows citizens to easily establish their identity and eligibility for various government programs and services.
She also mentioned that government offices have a special lane for those with a national ID to expedite document processing.
As of July 17, there are 2,680,673 National ID registrants in the region.
Rioflorido was the guest in the July 23 episode of the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas of the Presidential Communications Office, which is being conducted every Tuesday by the Philippine Information Agency, that features a government agency. (PJF/PIA MIMAROPA)
