QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) National Capital Region will kick off its 35th Civil Registration Month on Monday, February 3, with an array of activities aimed at promoting the importance of civil registration and statistical data.
This year’s theme, “Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-fit Civil Registration and Vital Statistics System,” underscores the PSA’s commitment to ensuring a responsive statistical system that supports the needs of citizens. The month-long celebration, observed every February, follows Proclamation No. 682, which was issued by former President Corazon C. Aquino.
A series of events are planned to engage the community and raise awareness about the significance of registering vital acts and events affecting personal status. Among the highlights will be a Civil Registration Quiz Bee, poster and slogan-making contests, and various lectures and training programs for government personnel involved in civil registration.
Key activities include:
- Opening Parade: February 3
- Civil Registration Quiz Bee: February 14
- Training on Validation and Authentication of National IDs: February 21
- Awarding of Contest Winners: February 21
- Radio Guesting: February 13 and 17
In addition, PSA will provide refresher training sessions on laws concerning civil registration, including Republic Acts 9048 and 10172, throughout February. These sessions aim to enhance the skills of civil registry personnel and improve the overall efficiency of the civil registration system.
Regional Director Paciano B. Dizon of PSA RSSO-NCR, emphasized the vital role of civil registration in establishing legal identity and access to essential services.
The PSA encourages all Filipinos to actively participate in this month’s events and recognize the importance of timely and accurate civil documentation.
