QUEZON CITY (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority – National Capital Region (PSA-NCR) is encouraging the public to report any establishments that refuse to accept national IDs as valid government identification.
In the latest episode of the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas media forum, PSA-NCR Regional Director Paciano B. Dizon said residents should inform the agency if they encounter businesses or banks that do not accept the national or PhilID cards.
“Report it to us. In any transaction, when you show your national ID and they say it is not enough, you report it to us,” Dizon said.
Under the Republic Act 11055, or the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Act, establishments that do not honor the national ID as a valid proof of identity can face fines of up to 500,000 pesos.
The PhilID can be used for a variety of services, including obtaining government documents, applying for jobs, opening bank accounts, and executing money transfers.
Residents can reach the PSA-NCR through its Facebook page, email at [email protected], X account RSSONCR, or by calling 88937-7738, 8362-6047, or 8925-2745.
