PSA Northern Mindanao celebrates nature care, plants trees for clean air

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in Northern Mindanao, in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-PENRO) in Misamis Oriental, recently planted trees at Mapawa Nature Park, Malasag, Cugman, Cagayan de Oro City.

Seventy-eight region-based representatives from 14 national government agencies planted 150 Narra tree seedlings to celebrate PSA’s 34th National Statistics Month.

The activity, led by ENRO Buenaventura Labininay of Initao local government, introduced Mapawa Nature Park and provided vital facts and insights on seedling care.

He said this initiative extends beyond ceremonial significance. It aims to underscore people’s critical role in championing environmental health.

Emphasizing the essential function of trees like Narra in air purification, the event seeks to highlight the significance of planting more hardwood tree species.

“Trees function as nature’s air purifiers, improving air quality by filtering pollutants and ensuring cleaner air for everyone’s well-being. As the nation advances, actively contributing to nature’s rejuvenation and preservation becomes imperative. Planting trees remains a powerful and practical means to achieve this,” Labininay said.
