PSA opens Civil Registration Service Outlet in Catarman

CATARMAN, Northern Samar (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority has opened the Civil Registration Services (CRS) outlet in Catarman on Wednesday, October 25.

This has been the clamor of the residents of Northern Samar, who had to travel to Catbalogan or Tacloban City before to register or acquire civil registry documents such as birth certificate, marriage certificate, death certificate, and certificate of no marriage.

Catarman to Catbalogan has an approximate distance of about 125.9 kilometers, while from Catarman to Tacloban has a distance of about 300 kilometers.

Analyn Mañoso, a solo parent, expressed her gratitude to the government for providing Northern Samar the CRS outlet.

“I can now save more or less three thousand pesos and spared the risk of travelling around 7 hours just to get a copy of my son’s birth certificate from PSA in Tacloban,” Mañoso said.

The establishment of CRS outlet was made possible with a resolution signed by the members of the Provincial Statistics Committee (PSC) chaired by Governor Edwin Ongchuan and endorsed to the Philippine Statistics Authority.

The new CRS outlet is located at the heart of the Capital town, corner Bonifacio and Quezon Streets, near St. Michael Academy, Catarman, Northern Samar.

The soft opening was held Wednesday, October 25, while the official inauguration and blessing will be on November this year, said Provincial Statistics Specialist Julian Gallano. (MMP/AND/PIA Northern Samar)
