PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Palawan launched its mobile registration dubbed ‘PhilSys on Wheels’ to encourage locals to register in the National ID System.
The new mode of registration started on September 16 and visited various places in Palawan to make PSA services more accessible for Palaweños. The roving registration is a venue for the Step 2 process for obtaining the national ID, which includes the registration and E-Phil ID printing.
Chief Statistical Specialist Maria Lalaine Rodriguez said that this mode will be continuously implemented until it reaches the entire population of unregistered individuals in Palawan. PSA recorded 964,602 locals registered in the province of Palawan.
“The Provincial Statistical Office of Palawan is making sure that all unregistered individuals in the National ID System are covered by conducting a saturation campaign,” said Rodriguez.
PSA is mandated to establish a thorough identification system for all Filipino citizens, called the Philippine Identification System, under the PhilSys Act, or Republic Act No. 11055.
The ID aims to serve as a valid proof of identity that can be used to transact with the government and the private sector. (RG/PIA Mimaropa – Palawan)
