BANGUED, Abra (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Abra Provincial Office has already registered to the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) more than 80 percent of the target population in the province.
“With regards to the target population of more than 250,000, we have already registered more than 80 percent, so kunti na lang ang hindi natin narehistro,” PSA-Abra Chief Statistical Specialist Felixberto Perdido reported during the ‘Saritaan iti Abra’ interview.
Perdido also explained the issue arising from the public regarding the slow issuance of physical IDs.
“With regards to the issues on the Phil ID, the issuance of the Physical cards ang may concern talaga. ‘Yong mga naunang naparehistro, ‘yong ang naging problema since there are some who have not yet received their ID. The remedy that the PSA has done is the electronic PhilID, they can receive it here in the office, they just need to present the transaction slip,’ Perdido said.
PSA continues to register more Abrenians through its provincial registration center and mobile registration teams. Perdido urged Abrenians especially parents to register their children ages one and above to the National ID system.
“Sa mga hindi pa naka-register, may registration center tayo dito sa Provincial office here in Bangued at mayroon din tayong registration teams who are going around the barangays of the different municipalities,” Perdido said.
He emphasized the importance of having a National ID for faster transactions with the government and the private sector.
“Itong national ID natin ay napakahalaga, it will serve as a proof of identity and to eliminate the need of providing additional IDs when transacting with the government and the private sector. Mapapabilis ang transaction natin.” Perdido clarified. (JDP/CAGT-PIA CAR, Abra)
