PSA reminds Ilonggos to be counted as 2024 census ends on May 15

ILOILO CITY (PIA) – – All remaining enumeration activities for the 2024 Census of Population (POPCEN) and the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) in the province and city of Iloilo will be conducted only until May 15, 2025.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Iloilo Provincial Statistical Office is reminding residents who have not yet been interviewed to reach out to their office to be counted or enumerated, emphasizing the importance of full public cooperation in this critical nationwide data-gathering effort.

PSA Iloilo officer-in-charge Jerry Dolutan said concerned residents may inform their respective Municipal or City Planning and Development Offices, or coordinate with their village chiefs and other local officials who will coordinate directly with PSA to facilitate the scheduling of interviews.

They may also keep in touch with PSA – Iloilo through telephone number (033) 327-9219 / 509-9620 or email at [email protected] or visit their office located at 2nd Floor, J. Villanueva Bldg., Iznart St., Iloilo City.

The 2024 POPCEN-CBMS aims to update the inventory of the total population across all barangays, cities, municipalities, provinces, and regions in the country.

The data collected will be instrumental in improving the targeting and delivery of government social protection programs by updating the list of beneficiaries and minimizing resource leakages.

In addition, the results will serve as a basis for the more equitable distribution of the National Tax Allocation among local government units, and contribute to the efficient allocation and utilization of government resources.

Dolutan said every citizen contributes to building a more inclusive, data-driven, and service-oriented government by participating in the census.

“Your cooperation ensures that no one is left behind in the development planning and poverty alleviation efforts,” said Dolutan.

The last national census which was undertaken in 2020 indicated that the province of Iloilo including the city of Iloilo has a total population of 2,509,525. (AAL/LAF/PIA6-Iloilo)
