TACLOBAN CITY (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority–Regional Statistical Services Office VIII (PSA-RSSO 8) has implemented various strategies to reach the 3.9 million registrants of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) in the region.
One of these strategies is the PhilSys Registration on Wheels, a mobile service designed to simplify the registration process on the community’s doorstep.
Meanwhile, the PhilSys On Boat utilizes traditional outrigger canoes known as “bangka” as mobile registration sites to reach remote coastal barangays.
Dito sa ating rehiyon, nakapagtala na tayo ng 3.9 million registered individuals aged one year old and above. Yung mantra natin, sa lupa o sa dagat man, PhilSys team pilit kayong pupuntahan,” said Wilma Perante, regional director of the PSA-RSSO 8.
(Here in our region, we have recorded 3.9 million registered individuals aged one year and above. Our mantra is, whether on land or at sea, the PhilSys team will make every effort to reach you.)
Of the total target population of 4,151,168 in the region, 3,974,790 were reportedly registered, representing a completion rate of 95.8 percent.
In the region, Leyte has the highest number of PhilSys registrants with 1,823,963, followed by Samar with 670,884, Northern Samar with 554,323, Eastern Samar with 401,131, Southern Leyte with 366,245, and Biliran with 158,244 registrants.
As of February 2024, there are 61,607 registered children in the region.
In addition, among the priority targets are the 4Ps beneficiaries so they could avail themselves of government services.
Layun din ng PhilSys na mairehistro ang ating mga 4Ps beneficiaries para mapakinabangan nila ang mga social services and we are very happy to be able to partner with DSWD for the conduct of various colocation activities which we started last March 2024,” Perante added.
(PhilSys’s goal is to register our 4Ps beneficiaries so they can benefit from social services, and we are very happy to partner with the DSWD to conduct various colocation activities, which we started last March 2024.)
