CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — The services sector remained the leading driver of MIMAROPA’s economy in 2024, contributing 51.1 percent to the region’s total economic output.
During the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-MIMAROPA presentation of the 2022-2024 Regional Accounts of the Philippines for the region, April 22, Regional Director Leni R. Rioflorido said that the region’s Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) reached ₱429.38 billion in 2024.
Following the services sector, the industry sector contributed 32.4 percent, while agriculture, forestry and fishing (AFF) accounted for 16.5 percent of the region’s economy.
“The growth performance of MIMAROPA underscores the significant role of the Services sector in sustaining our economic momentum,” she said.
Rioflorido added “For services, which is composed of eleven sub-industries: wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, accounted for 27.7 percent of the region’s total services; transportation and storage, 12.6 percent; education, 10.8 percent; financial and insurance activities, 10.6 percent; public administration and defense; compulsory social activities, 7.2 percent; information and communication, 7.1 percent; accommodation and food service activities, 6.7 percent; other services, 6.7 percent; real estate and ownership of dwellings, 5.0 percent; human health and social work activities, 3.5 percent; and professional and business services accounted for 2.1 percent,” she said.
The PSA also led the discussions on the GRDP and Gross Regional Domestic Expenditure (GRDE), providing participants with a clearer picture of the region’s economic structure and expenditure patterns.
Rioflorido reiterated PSA’s commitment to producing timely, relevant, and accurate statistics in support of evidence-based policymaking.
“We remain steadfast in our mission to deliver statistics that matter— empowering our stakeholders with knowledge that translates into impactful action,” she said.
