BAGUIO CITY (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is working to speed up the printing of the national identification card in polyvinyl chloride (PVC), aiming to have printing services in every province this year.
PSA-Cordillera Registration Officer Gerard Tolito said that the process is already ongoing for the decentralization of the printing of the national ID.
“Ongoing ‘yung process and hopefully, within this year, magkaroon tayo bawat province iti printing ti national ID to speed up the issuance of physical ID,” Tolito said in an interview.
While the process is still underway, Tolito advised those who have yet received their national ID in PVC to visit the nearest registration center in their area and verify if they were already issued with a national ID number or the PhilSys number.
He explained that those with a national ID number may download the digital version of their national ID through the website national-ID.gov.ph.
Tolito emphasized that the digital ID has the same functionality and use and should be accepted by public or private offices as proof of identity and age of that ID owner.
“That digital ID is also valid, it has the same functionality as the physical ID and it can be used in public and private transactions,” Tolito reiterated.
The PSA continues to accept registrations for the national ID as well as requests for correction of information indicated in the national ID. (JDP/DEG-PIA CAR)
