QUEZON CITY (PIA) — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is set to expand its Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) registration to include infants under one year old, as part of efforts to account for every Filipino.

According to PSA-National Capital Region Director Paciano B. Dizon, the agency is currently focused on registering children aged one to five years old, but will soon start enrolling infants below one year old.

We are more focusing now on the children aged one year to five years old. Now it’s rolling, and later on for the [children] below 1, we will get them for registration,” Dizon said.

To facilitate the registration of newborns, the PSA plans to set up mobile registration units in hospitals, making the process more accessible for families with infants.

Currently, the PSA’s mobile registration teams visit barangays and sitios to reach children aged one to five years old.

Our mobile registration teams go to the barangays and sitios. They go house-to-house to register the children aged one to five. They also have mobile registration in schools,” Dizon added.

In addition to the fixed registration centers at PSA regional and provincial offices, as well as mall-based and local government-based sites, the PSA-NCR aims to register the entire population in the National Capital Region.

Just like with our other documents, we should get everyone in the picture. Our goal is to register and census all residents of NCR, all households,” Dizon said.
