The number of jobless Filipinos or those without livelihoods dropped to 1.94 million in February 2025, and employment went up to 49.15 million, the Philippine Statistics Authority’s (PSA) latest Labor Force Survey (LFS) shows.
Based on PSA’s latest LFS data, the number of employed Filipinos went up to 49.15 million in February 2025 from the 48.95 million in February 2024, and the 48.49 million in January 2025.
In his report on Tuesday, National Statistician Dennis Mapa said that the initial results of the latest LFS [https://psa.gov.ph/statistics/labor-force-survey] shows that the unemployment rate further declined to 3.8 percent in February this year from 4.3 percent the previous month.
Furthermore, Mapa said that the number of unemployed Filipinos declined to 1.94 million in February from 2.16 million in January this year.
Conversely, the employment rate rose to 96.2 percent in February this year from 95.7 percent in the previous month.
Also, the LFS indicate that the top industries with highest employment increase in February include accommodation and food service (377,000); fishing and aquaculture 365,000); public administration and defense (330,000); construction (258,000); and other service activities (232,000).
The top five sub-sectors with the largest increase employment increase in February include: wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (620,000); construction (434,000); manufacturing (225,000); public administration and defense, compulsory social security (191,000); and fishing and aquaculture (147,000).
