PSHS, DOST intensify school campaign in Siquijor

SIQUIJOR, Siquijor (PIA) — The Philippine Science High School (PSHS) Central Visayas Campus and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) here have launched a school-to-school campaign from September 25-27 to encourage Grade 6 students to take the entrance examination and enroll at the science high school.

PSHS CViSC special science teacher II Ailene A. Ramos emphasized the importance of reaching out to potential students at an early stage.

“We believe that by visiting schools and interacting directly with students, we can inspire them to pursue a career in science and technology,” Ramos said.

The campaign involves visiting various elementary schools to hold informative talks and presentations about PSHS Central Visayas Campus.

The talks highlight the school’s academic excellence, research opportunities, and supportive learning environment.

According to Engr. Maria Honey Vie Espinosa of DOST Siquijor, the campaign has been well-received by the students and teachers.

“The students are very enthusiastic about learning more about PSHS. They are excited about the prospect of joining a school with such a strong focus on science and technology. Our school-to-school campaign is well received especially those in the special science sections in the central schools,” Espinosa shared.

PSHS CViSC special science teacher I Antwin S. Daugdaug said many students are looking forward to taking the entrance examination.

Provincial Science and Technology director Engr. Mario E. de la Peña said the DOST Siquijor has been actively supporting PSHS in the campaign.

“We are committed to providing opportunities for Siquijor students to excel in science and technology. PSHS is a great option for students who are passionate about these fields,” he said.

The campaign is part of PSHS Central Visayas Campus’s broader efforts to increase enrollment and promote STEM education in the region.

“By attracting talented students from Siquijor, the school aims to contribute to the development of a strong scientific workforce in the Philippines,” he also said (RAC/PIA-7 Siquijor with reports from Engr. Reinhold Jek Y. Abing, Senior SRS/Information Officer-designate)
