SALAY, Misamis Oriental (PIA) – The Project Support Office (PSO) Mindanao recently awarded the No Objection Letter 1 (NOL 1) for the construction of ‘Double A’ slaughterhouse in Barangay Alipuaton, Salay, Misamis Oriental.
The Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) Scale-Up will fund the slaughterhouse, which will include a slaughter warehouse, holding pen, cold storage, overhead tank, wastewater treatment facility, perimeter fence, access road, 3-phase industrial power line, and necessary equipment for a ‘Double A’ abattoir.
Salay Municipal Mayor Angelo G. Capistrano Jr. thanked the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) for their support.
“We are truly grateful for DA-PRDP’s approval and issuance of NOL 1 for our slaughterhouse project. This facility will produce high-quality meat, increasing its market value. It will also create additional jobs, and Salay local government will ensure its successful implementation, benefiting both our municipality and neighboring areas,” the mayor said.
PSO Mindanao Deputy Project Director Carlene C. Collado affirmed their commitment to completing and sustaining the subproject.
“This subproject marks the beginning of our support to Salay. Beyond construction, we need to sustain the slaughterhouse’s operations by tapping into other Department of Agriculture programs to address value chain gaps. We must act urgently for its successful implementation,” DPD Collado emphasized.
Additionally, Compliance Officer Atty. Ralph L. Monday provided an overview of the Implementation Management Agreement (IMA), outlining key implementation timelines.
The Procurement Unit, led by Mary Nor Gonzales, briefed the LGU of Salay on the procurement process and timeline, reinforcing their commitment to the established schedules. (JMM/PSO Mindanao/IJBD/PIA-10/Misamis Oriental)
