MAASIN CITY (PIA) — The Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) is preparing the necessary services each member-agency can provide for the conduct of a Serbisyo Caravan set to be held in Brgy. Calag-itan, an upland location in the town of Hinunangan.
Details of this planned outreach program were extensively discussed during the 3rd Quarter Cluster Meeting of the task force at the old DPWH Function Hall on Tuesday, August 1.
Danilo Laguitan, DILG provincial director, thanked all the heads and representatives of national line agencies attending the meeting, citing their cooperation and efforts in helping achieve the goals of PTF-ELCAC.
As usual, various government services will be available to the people in the rural areas during the Serbisyo Caravan, which will be done jointly with the Municipal Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (MTF-ELCAC) of Hinunangan LGU.
Among these expected services are free dental, medical check-up and haircut, distribution of foodstuffs, school supplies, anti-rabies shots for domestic animals, issuance of police clearances and live birth certificates, as well as orientation on fire prevention, among others, said Sheila Javier, DILG staff.
Agencies such as PCA, DAR, PhilFIDA, and the provincial agriculture office will be giving out seedlings on coconut, abaca, and certified rice seeds to farmers, and will hold consultation on land tenure and on proper wages to hired farm laborers.
“The goal of the Serbisyo Caravan is to bring government service closer to the people,” said Javier. (LDL/MMP with reports from Ivo Geraldo, VSU Intern/PIA Southern Leyte)
