DAGUPAN CITY (PIA) – The Philippine Trade Training Center (PTTC), an agency of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), urged micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Pangasinan to register with the DTI to guarantee a legal identity and right to operate and protect their business name.
“Be DTI registered. Ang hinihingi lang namin ay DTI registration. Bakit? Kasi we want to monitor what your needs are, so we can provide you assistance with training, trade fairs, and even accessing the market,” Nelly Nita Dillera, executive director of PTTC, said.
She added that registering a business name grants the owner a five-year legal right from the date of registration.
She also stressed the need to renew the business name to maintain its legal validity, otherwise, it will be automatically removed from the DTI database.
For early filing, MSMEs are given 180 calendar days before the expiry date; for regular filing, they have 90 days after the registration expires; and for the late filing or grace period, they are given an additional 90 days after the regular filing period subject to payment of penalty of 50% of the registration fee.
Further, all business name registrations not renewed within the grace period will be canceled and made available for others to register, following existing rules.
“Kapag DTI registered ka na, the moment that somebody else makes use of your business name sa suspicious activities or illegal transactions ay pwede siyang kasuhan o ireklamo kasi ayaw din naman natin na masira ang business natin,” Dillera stated.
Meanwhile, registering a business name and paying the fee can be done online at bnrs.dti.gov.ph, or register at the nearest DTI office with a completed application form and a valid ID.
Likewise, a representative can also submit requirements with a valid ID and authorization letter from the business owner. (JCR/AMB/JCDR/PIA Pangasinan)
