Quiapo official shares preparation for Traslacion 2025

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — As Quiapo Church and the City of Manila gear up for the upcoming Traslacion on January 9, preparations are intensifying, according to Impormasyon at Aksyon sa Bagong Pilipinas radio guest speaker and Nazareno 2025 technical adviser Bro. Alex Irasga.

In an interview, Irasga highlighted the collaborative efforts involving the national government, led by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., and local officials, including Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna.

This year, the preparations are more thorough, with active participation from the police, including Director Livy and Chief PNP Marvel, along with regional directors and other police officials,” he said.

Street closures and route details

When asked about road closures during the Traslacion, Irasga outlined the procession’s route.

The procession will pass through six bridges and 18 national and city roads, including the underpass of Quezon Boulevard,” he explained. The six areas include Ayala Bridge, Carlos Palanca, Arlegui, Carser, Hidalgo, and Quezon Bridge.

He detailed the specific streets to avoid: “From Luneta, vehicles should steer clear of Katigbak Drive, Roxas Boulevard, and Burgos Street. After crossing Ayala Bridge, the procession will turn left onto Carlos Palanca, then right onto Quezon Boulevard Service Road, continuing through various streets in the community before returning to Quinta Market and Plaza Quiapo.”

Alternative routes and drop-off locations

For those seeking alternative routes, Irasga recommended UST and Morayta as safe drop-off points, especially for those coming from Quezon City.

If you’re coming from Tondo or Caloocan, be aware that Recto is closed, and Santa Cruz is also affected,” he said.

Some tips for participants

When asked about what participants should prepare for the Traslacion, Irasga emphasized the importance of health.

First and foremost, ensure you are in good health. If you are feeling unwell, it’s best not to push yourself. Attending the holy mass is more important than participating in the procession,” he advised.

He also cautioned attendees against bringing items that could be confiscated, such as opaque tumblers and sharp objects.

Let’s keep the event safe for everyone,” Irasga added.

As the Pista ng Hesus Nazareno (Feast of Jesus of Nazarene) approaches, officials are urging participants to plan ahead and follow guidelines to ensure a smooth and safe celebration. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
