CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA)– – Aiming for its 8th seal, the provincial government of Quirino recently underwent the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Regional Assessment by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) with members from the Isabela State University and Department of Health.
The team evaluated documents and other Modes of Verification (MOVs) and interviewed department heads and program focal persons along the ten governance areas: financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection and sensitivity, health compliance and responsiveness, sustainable education, business-friendliness and competitiveness, safety, peace and order, environmental management, tourism, heritage development, culture and arts, and youth development.
Also, this year’s performance measures are upgraded to include more outcome-based criteria as the SGLG emphasizes the long-term results of good governance.
The assessment was attended by representatives from the different National Government Agencies and the provincial government led by Provincial Administrator Carmelita B. Jimenez who represented Governor Dakila Carlo E. Cua.
Jimenez thanked the validators for their commendation and recommendations as she urged the agencies and officers concerned to join hands for synergistic steps to upgrade service delivery and for the national SGLG validation.
Last year, the province and three of its municipalities, namely Diffun, Maddela, and Saguday received the 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance.
Both the provincial government and LGU Saguday got their seventh seal, while LGUs Diffun and Maddela received their second award.
Also, Saguday was among the 22 LGUs nationwide that passed the seven-time evaluation. (OTB/TCB, PIA Quirino)
