Quirino becomes first LGU to finish 2024 POPCEN-CBMS data processing

CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) – Quirino has set the pace by becoming the first province in the Cagayan Valley region to complete the data processing of the 2024 Census of Population and Community-Based Monitoring System (POPCEN-CBMS) Household Profile Questionnaire.

In recognition of this achievement, the Regional Statistical Services Office II of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) awarded a plaque of commendation to the Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) of Quirino.

Engr. Cherry Grace D. Agustin, chief Statistical Specialist of PSO Quirino, expressed her gratitude for the commendation, noting that it affirms the team’s dedication, efficiency, and teamwork, which are key factors in ensuring accurate and timely data processing.

She also emphasized the invaluable contribution of the hired data processors and personnel, whose commitment to delivering high-quality statistical data is essential for informed policymaking and effective development planning.

“This achievement underscores the hard work and perseverance of our team in ensuring that quality statistics are delivered promptly to support national and local governance,” Agustin said.

The 2024 POPCEN-CBMS is a vital statistical undertaking that provides updated demographic and socio-economic data for evidence-based policymaking and resource allocation at both the national and local levels.

“The data collected will be used in updating the inventory of the country’s population, as well as the list of beneficiaries of social protection programs,” Agustin said.

She added that the data will serve as the basis for local government units and various government agencies in targeting households for the planning, formulation, and implementation of programs and projects aimed at poverty alleviation. (ALM/TCB/PIA-2, Quirino)
