Quirino farmers’ group gets processing facility

CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) —The Gunglo Farmers Association of San Ramon in Aglipay town will soon have a processing center for its chili garlic oil product.

This processing center was made possible through the Village Level Farm-Focused Enterprise Development (VLFED) project of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).

Through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) between Gunglo and key government agencies, including the DAR, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the local government of Aglipay, for the construction of the processing center and the enhancement of the chili garlic oil.

DOST Provincial Director Rocela Angelica B. Gorospe committed to providing training for the farmers for more market-competitive products.

For the DTI, Provincial Director Mary Ann Corpuz Dy vowed their agency’s support to the association in packaging and labeling, as well as marketing and promotion of the association’s chili garlic oil product.

On the other hand, Aglipay Mayor Jerry T. Agsalda vowed to help with the needed raw materials for the production of chili garlic oil.

The VLFED project promotes collaboration among relevant partner institutions to provide agrarian reform beneficiary organizations (ARBOs) with technical and funding requirements for the renovation and enhancement of their existing processing centers, the production of quality processed products, the adoption of good manufacturing practices, and the and the labeling and packaging of the products.
