Quirino farmers receive machinery from DAR project

CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA ) – – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) turned over farm machinery and equipment to five Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) in Quirino province under the agency’s Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support  (CRFPS) project.

Olive F. Sapon, agrarian reform program officer, explained that the CRFPS project has two components, the Sustainable Livelihood Support to Disaster Affected Areas (SLSDAA) and the  Major Crop-Based Block Farm Productivity Enhancement (MCBFPE).

Sapon said the five ARBOs were awarded farm machinery and equipment amounting to P300,000 each.

The recipients under the first component were Cabarroguis Livelihood Agriculture Cooperative of Cabarroguis; Rizal Beneficiaries of Agrarian Reform & Farmers Organization Inc. of Saguday; Ligaya Farmers and Development Association, Inc. of Aglipay;  San Salvador ARB Farmers Association Inc. of Maddela; and Samahan ng mga Magsasakang Agraryo Agrarian Reform Cooperative of Diffun.

The Gulac Farmers Agrarian Reform Cooperative of Diffun, on the other hand, was awarded under the Major crop-based block farm productivity enhancement amounting to P1.5 million.

Sapon further said that in addition to the machinery and equipment, the ARBOs were also provided with farm inputs like pesticides and fertilizers. 

“Various training were also lined up for April such as New Technology and Fertilizer Utilization and Management Comprehensive policy Formulation and  Nutrient & pest management comprehensive policy formulation,” she said.

Meanwhile, Jimson D. Reyes, agrarian reform program technologist, urged the recipients to use the farm machinery and equipment properly to prolong their life span, adding that the associations were trained to operate the said farm machinery and equipment. (OTB/TCB/PIA-2, QUIRINO)
