CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) – – The provincial government of Quirino, in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd), National Commission on the Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), and the North Luzon Cinema Guild, Inc. recently held a three-day filmmaking workshop for aspiring storytellers.
Dubbed “Istoria Quirino Film Camp,” the filmmaking workshop, which is one of the highlights of National Arts Month, served as a dynamic creative platform for aspiring storytellers to bring Quirino’s rich culture, traditions, and experiences to life through film.
Also, the camp aimed to empower local talents and amplify Quirino’s voice in the world of cinema by weaving authentic community narratives.
The event gathered 31 aspiring filmmakers who all showed enthusiasm to enhance their skills in storytelling and visual filmmaking techniques during the three-day workshop at the Q-LIFE Building in San Marcos, Cabarroguis.
Speaking at the opening program last February 5, 2025, Provincial Administrator Carmelita B. Jimenez underscored the importance of celebrating National Arts Month and nurturing local talent to reach national and international platforms.
“We believe in your talent, and we are here to support you in crafting something extraordinary,” Jimenez said as she expressed her hope that Quirino will soon produce filmmakers whose works will proudly carry the identity of #TatakQuirino.
Jimenez also thanked the resource persons for sharing their expertise, for igniting a spark in the aspiring Quirino filmmakers, and for encouraging them to embrace the art of storytelling through film. (OTB/TCB/PIA-2, Quirino)
