CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA)- -Some local officials of Quirino province had expressed full support for the plans, programs, and projects of the Sangguniang Kabataan provincial and municipal organizations, and other youth organizations.
Officials believe that youth development is always part of the provincial government’s program, platform, and priorities.
Speaking at the recently concluded Lingo ng Kabataan celebration, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Agathon Pagbilao said the provincial government has been implementing programs and projects that protect the youth from various social problems such as drugs, rape, and other cases.
“We have a lot of cases now of online sexual abuse and exploitation of children so you have to be careful on the links or attachments that you are clicking on,” Pagbilao told the youth.
Pagbilao urged the youth to take part in the government’s campaign against rape and drugs saying that the number of rape cases in the province has been increasing, especially in the municipality of Cabarroguis.
“Regarding drug addiction, we have a community-based rehabilitation for drug users, and for the past years, there were 14 persons who underwent rehabilitation and I’m proud to say that they are now employed,” Pagbilao said stressing that there will be no more rehabilitation programs if every Quirinian can resist all temptations leading to drug addiction.
The provincial social welfare officer called on the youth to report any victim or victims of drug addiction, rape, and other violence.
Former representative and governor Junie E. Cua said he believes that the province’s future lies in how the youth are prepared for the future.
The former governor assured the youth that the provincial government set aside funds to ensure that each of the youth was allowed to finish school.
“The provincial government invested a lot of funds to make sure we help you by way of financial assistance. So that, somehow we can help your parents, sharing the burden of your education. We do not want financial problems to become a hindrance in finishing your studies,” Cua said.
For their part, both Representative Midy Cua and Governor Dax Cua assured their hundred percent support for the goals and aspirations of the youth as they advised them to keep fighting for their dreams for their future. (OTB/TCB/PIA Quirino)
