CABARROGUIS, Quirino (PIA) – – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) affirmed that all the Local Committees on Anti-Trafficking and Violence against Women and their Children (LCAT-VAWC) of the six towns of Quirino province are highly functional based on the assessment the Provincial Inter-Agency Monitoring Team (PIAMT).
DILG Provincial Director Karen Joy P. Castro who led the assessment team said all the municipalities achieved above 80 percent rating which is considered highly functional.
Aglipay achieved 95 percent; Cabarroguis- 99 percent; Diffun-103 percent; Maddela-103 percent; Nagtipunan- 106 percent; and Saguday-105 percent.
Pablico said the six local committees were assessed in the following areas: organization, meetings, policies, plans and budget, and accomplishments.
Under the LCAT-VAWC monitoring guideline, the local government units must have executive and legislative issuances to protect people from any form of TIP and VAWC, services to trafficked persons and VAWC victim-survivors, surveillance system, investigation, and rescue to ensure effective and efficient coordination, among others.
Pablico stressed the importance of assessing the functionality and effectiveness of the LCAT-VAWCs based on existing policies and issuances.
The members of the monitoring team are Social Welfare Officer Lilibeth A. Sampaga of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Police Captain Daisylin N. Pinugu of the Philippine National Police and Health Education and Promotions Officer Melanie L. Dotuerte of the Provincial Health Office. (OTB/TCB/PIA-2, QUIRINO)
